Most of my pregnancy anxiety and hypnobirthing programmes consist of 4 sessions, each lasting 90-120 minutes. This extended time allows us to go deep into the therapeutic work, address your concerns thoroughly, and ensure you feel fully supported without feeling rushed.
However, I understand that every pregnancy is different. The structure can be adapted based on:
How far along you are - If you're in your third trimester, we may work more intensively with closer-together sessions
Your specific needs - Some clients benefit from more frequent shorter sessions; others prefer the depth of longer sessions
Your energy levels - Pregnancy fatigue is real, and we'll find a rhythm that works for you
Complexity of concerns - Deep trauma-informed work may need more sessions; specific phobias may resolve more quickly

Hypnobirthing focuses specifically on preparing you for labour and birth using relaxation and visualisation techniques. Hypnotherapy goes deeper — it's a therapeutic approach that addresses the root causes of your fears, anxieties, and unhelpful beliefs. While I incorporate wonderful hypnobirthing techniques, sessions are tailored to your unique history, concerns, and needs throughout your entire journey to motherhood.

Yes, therapy focused on pregnancy and birth preparation is completely safe. Make sure you’re working with a therapist specifically trained to support pregnant women through this work. One thing to be mindful of is the much deeper therapeutic work — such as processing non-birth-related trauma — is best saved for after your baby arrives, when your nervous system isn't managing the demands of pregnancy.

Yes! Your birthing partner is an important part of this journey. I usually bring them in toward the end of our work together so they can learn specific ways to support you, understand what you need from them, and develop tools that enhance your connection and communication as you prepare for birth together.

I generally suggest starting around 20 weeks to give us plenty of time to prepare, but trust your instincts and if anxiety or fear is showing up earlier in your pregnancy, please reach out to me.
